UFC on ESPN 11 video: Jim Miller taps out Roosevelt Roberts with nasty armbar in first round

On the night he tied Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone for the most fights in UFC history, Jim Miller made the most of the occasion by wrapping up a nasty armbar to submit Roosevelt Roberts.

After accepting the 160-pound catchweight fight on short notice, the New Jersey native proved the old dog still has plenty of tricks left up his sleeve after getting the tap at just 2:25 into the opening round. After 35 UFC fights, Miller also cemented his spot all alone at No. 3 for the most wins inside the octagon as well.

“I felt that I had a pretty significant strength advantage. I was just looking for him to make that mistake,” Miller said about his submission win.

It didn’t take Miller long to take control of the fight after he caught a kick from Roberts during the opening exchange and tripped him down to the ground. From there, Miller quickly looked to advance his position as he began looking for openings for submissions from the top.

When Roberts managed to scramble free for a brief second he failed to take his arm with him and Miller was latched onto his limb, looking to finish the fight. Roberts made an ill-fated attempt to break free but it only allowed Miller to lock up the submission.

As soon as Miller extended his hips, Roberts was forced to tap to the submission rather than possibly face an injury by holding on any longer.

Following the win on Saturday night, Miller is now 3-1 in his past four fights as he continues to work towards even more records to break with no plans of slowing down his career any time soon.
