Conor McGregor delivers medical supplies to children’s hospital in Ireland

Conor McGregor has stepped up to the plate in his home country of Ireland amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion revealed last month that he would purchase over $1 million worth of personal protective equipment to be “deployed to all the fighting hospitals in the Leinster region” in Ireland. On Thursday, McGregor made a personal delivery to Our Lady Children’s Hospital at Crumlin in Dublin, which is the largest pediatric hospital in the nation.

“The Notorious” documented the moment via his Instagram page:

McGregor has been one of Ireland’s outspoken advocates when it comes to social distancing and getting out in front of the pandemic. The 31-year-old superstar has continued to purchase and donate supplies to hospitals around Ireland, including Mercy Hospital in Cork and the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.

While he is continuing to help in the fight against the coronavirus, McGregor’s octagon career got a huge boost in early 2020. In the main event of January’s UFC 246 event, the SBG Ireland product finished Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds after a 15-month layoff. Prior to that, McGregor faced bitter rival Khabib Nurmagomedov for the lightweight title at UFC 229 in October 2018.

Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor in the fourth round in the biggest pay-per-view event in UFC history. The sport’s biggest star hopes to fight two more times in 2020, which could include a rematch with Nurmagomedov, a fight that UFC president Dana White believes could happen a lot sooner than fans think.
