Submission! Watch Viana Finish Whitmire With Slick Armbar

Polyana Viana scored another finish inside of the cage earlier tonight (Sat., Aug. 29, 2020) at UFC Vegas 8 live on ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when the Brazilian veteran ended Ultimate Fighter alum Emily Whitmire via first-round submission (armbar).

Both fighters came out firing on the feet before Whitmire secured a nice takedown and gained top control. Whitmire tried to position herself for some ground-and-pound and a possible submission attempt, but it was Viana who gained the advantage. Viana was able to set Whitmire up with an elbow to the head and then quickly locked in the armbar finish off her back.

With this performance, Viana ends a rough three-fight losing streak dating back to last August. The Brazilian veteran has now finished all 11 of her professional wins and should be able to use this victory to finally climb the women’s strawweight ladder. After all, Viana holds a knockout win over red-hot contender Amanda Ribas.
