Highlights! Hansen Scores Late Armbar In UFC Debut
Kay Hansen made good on her Octagon debut earlier tonight (Sat., June 27, 2020) at UFC on ESPN 12 live on ESPN/ESPN+ from inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, when she finished former Invicta FC women’s atomweight champion Jinh Yu Frey via third-round submission (armbar).
This 115-pound affair was scheduled less than one week ago but both women still showed up to fight. Hansen fell behind early as Frey kept the fight on the feet and scored from the outside. That was until Hansen found the home for a few takedowns and softened the former Invicta FC champion up in the second round.
In the third frame, Frey defended nicely to keep the fight standing. However, during a scramble along the cage Hansen was able to grab an arm and threaten with the submission. Frey defended for a few moments before calmly tapping and handing the victory over to the 20-year-old Hansen.

With this performance, Hansen scores big in her UFC debut as she enters the promotion as the second younger fighter on the roster (Chase Hooper is about one month younger). While Kay has a lot of work to do in order to sink her teeth into the expanding women’s strawweight division this is an incredible start.
