Pic! Cejudo Looks Absolutely Jacked For UFC 249

Despite the recent uncertainty surrounding UFC’s schedule and return to action, Henry Cejudo has continued to train like a madman leading into his bantamweight title defense against Dominick Cruz at UFC 249 on May 9 live on ESPN+ PPV from inside VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

Cejudo, who claimed the vacant UFC bantamweight title with a TKO win over Marlon Moraes at UFC 238 last June (full fight replay HERE), was originally expected to face Jose Aldo at UFC 250 on May 9 before the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic put a quick stop to those plans. Instead, Aldo was replaced by Cruz and the fight was moved to UFC 249 (although the date remained the same).

While some fighters would crumble under the weight of competing during a global pandemic and having championship fights changed by the week, Cejudo has remained focused and it has shown in his training. The UFC bantamweight champion recently posted the following message to Twitter showing off his ripped physique ahead of his first official 135-pound title defense:

“I really don’t know the difference between being in camp or Covid-19 quarantine,” wrote Cejudo. “But I will say this, I’m out to seek and destroy!”

While some tend to ignore Cejudo based on his sometimes cringe-worthy antics, there’s no denying how efficient and dominant the 33-year-old has been inside of the Octagon. Over his last three UFC appearances the former Olympic gold medalist has knocked off Demetrious Johnson, T.J. Dillashaw, and the aforementioned Moraes. In the process, Cejudo became a two-division champion at flyweight and bantamweight before relinquishing the 125-pound throne just a few months ago.

Based on these recent training camp photos Cruz is going to have his work cut out for him when he meets Cejudo at UFC 249 next weekend, especially considering “Dominator” hasn’t stepped foot inside of the Octagon since a title loss to Cody Garbrandt back in 2016.
