With lightweight champion Conor McGregor out of the picture for the foreseeable future while he dabbled in the world of boxing, Ferguson and Lee were given the chance to carry the 155-pound banner in his absence. The two didn’t disappoint, engaging in a back-and-forth battle that ended with Ferguson countering Lee’s aggressive top game with a fight-ending triangle choke.

Ferguson won his next two fights to increase his win streak to 12 and is next scheduled to face Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 on May 9, again for an interim title.
